Unclaimed Capital Credits:

Is Your Name on the List?

We are holding check payments for the following members. We’d rather have this money in your pocket!

At Mark Twain Rural Telephone Company, our customers are more than just patrons, you are owners. Because we operate as a cooperative, we share our margins (profits) with you in the form of Capital Credits.

Every year, we mail checks to retire these credits. However, sometimes life happens. People move, addresses change, and checks get returned to our office.

We are currently looking for the owners of Capital Credit checks issued in 2023 and prior.

Important Notice Regarding Your Funds: We are making every effort to reconnect these funds with their rightful owners. However, to comply with our cooperative Bylaws, we need to hear from you soon.

The Deadline: If we do not receive contact regarding these specific checks by February 28, 2026, the unclaimed funds will be deemed donated back to the Cooperative.

Please search the table below. If you see your name, or the name of a deceased relative for whom you are the executor, please contact us immediately.

How to Claim Your Check

If you found your name in the list above, please reach out to us so we can update our records and reissue your payment.

By Mail: Send a letter to PO Box 68, Hurdland, MO 63547.

By Phone: Call our office at (660) 423-5211.

FAQ –

What are Capital Credits?

Why am I getting paid?

As a member of a cooperative, you accumulate “Capital Credits” based on your patronage. When the company does well and revenues exceed expenses, we allocate those margins to your capital account.

When do I get the money?

The Board of Directors reviews our financial health annually. If the cooperative is in a strong position, they vote to “retire” (pay out) a portion of those credits. That is when we mail you a check.

Why was my name on the list?

The most common reason is an outdated address. If you move and don’t update your contact info with us, the post office returns the check. We hold these credits in your account, but after two years of uncashed checks, our Bylaws require us to absorb the funds if they remain unclaimed.
